At halftime in an important game between the Philadephia 76ers and Boston Celtics, the Celtics led the Sixers by a score of 52-46. During TNT’s halftime show, the conversation turned to Sixers point guard T.J. McConnell. Analyst and former NBA point guard Baron Davis had some choice comments about the 26-year-old: After two quarters of play, McConnell had totaled seven points in his seven minutes on the floor. McConnell spent the majority of the 2016-17 season as the starting point guard for the Sixers. However, when the team drafted Ben Simmons with the first overall pick in 2017, McConnell was bumped to the bench. In a limited role this season, he has averaged 6.6 points and 3.8 assists while shooting 55.6%.

During his NBA career, Davis spent time with the Hornets, Warriors, Clippers, Cavaliers, and Knicks. The two-time All-Star averaged 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists, shooting 40.9%. The 39-year-old has been an NBA analyst for TNT since 2017.

Tuesday night’s match-up between the Sixers and the Celtics was a big one. Entering the night, the two teams held the fourth and fifth seeds in the Eastern Conference, respectively. Both teams are also within striking distance of the third-seed Indiana Pacers.
ESPN’s BPI Playoff Odds give both teams a greater than 99.9% chance of making the playoffs.

However, the system favors the Celtics, giving Boston a 6.3% chance of winning the championship.

The Sixers are given only a 1.3% chance by the system.
